2 Subtle Signs It Is Time To Replace Your Siding

No matter how durable the siding on your house is, there will inevitably come a day when it is time to replace it.  Siding, in Colorado especially, takes a pretty bad beating year in and year out from the sometimes extreme Colorado weather.  If you had cheap siding, to begin with, that day will come sooner than later and we recommend upgrading to James Hardie Fiber Cement, so the siding may even outlast you the next time around.  If your siding is more than 10 years old, we suggest inspecting your siding each year for signs it may be time to replace it.   There are, of course, obvious signs your siding needs to be replaced:  obvious damage, bulging panels and visible mold to name a few.  However, two signs people often attribute to other factors and therefore overlook, are explained below

  1. An increase in heating and cooling costs:  While not often thought of as a siding-related issue, if no issues are found in the insulation, heating/cooling systems, etc., siding may be the next place to look. A siding expert can ensure there are no major issues in the siding that may be causing heat to escape or enter the home.
  2. Frequent repairs: Have you been fixing cracks, filling holes, or repainting your siding more often than usual?  It may not be just normal wear and tear anymore–It may be time to retire your current siding. Regular maintenance is part of caring for your siding, but constant repairs are a sign that new siding is needed.

If you have experienced any of the signs above, be them overt or subtle, you should reach out to us at Colorado Siding and have us inspect your siding.  The worst thing you can do is wait until the siding problems affect the structure of you home.  Contact us today for a free consultation and estimate on new siding and stay one step ahead of the game!
