This exterior renovation in Vail was completed by Colorado Siding to address failing exterior materials while meeting strict local design and fire-safety requirements. The home’s original siding was over 40 years old and beginning to crack, creating both durability and aesthetic concerns. The homeowners wanted a classic mountain look—subtle, timeless, and refined—while significantly improving fire protection and long-term performance.
Colorado Siding removed the deteriorating siding and installed James Hardie Cobblestone lap siding, paired with Hardie® fascia and soffit for durability in alpine conditions. Rich espresso board-and-batten accents were added to bring warmth and contrast to the exterior. A HardieWrap® weather barrier was installed to improve moisture control, and two Pella Lifestyle Series windows were upgraded for performance and efficiency. Because the desired trim color was not available as a factory finish, all trim was custom field-painted to achieve the exact look the homeowners envisioned. Existing decks were also upgraded and refinished using Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck® for added longevity and protection..
The design direction focused on maintaining a classic mountain aesthetic that blended naturally with Vail’s surrounding environment. Color selections were intentionally understated, allowing texture and architectural details to carry the design.
